Join the troop as we explore the outdoors through camping, hiking, service projects, volunteering, merit badges and finding new adventures together as we go.
The definition of scouting is exploring to obtain information.
St. Luke's United Methodist Church marks our meeting spot! Mondays at 7pm you will find the Trash Panda patrol, the BioHazard Bacon patrol and the Rubber Duckie patrol gathering and learning together in the Fellowship Hall. Come and join us! If you have questions or want to join us contact [email protected]
Hey scouts,
Troop 205 is part of the Chesapeake Bay District and the Colonial Virginia Council. Our scout store is located at 11834 Canon Blvd Suite l, Newport News, VA 23606. You can reach them at (757) 595-3356
As you start your journey you need to master requirements.
You must earn your ranks by learning and teaching. First comes scout, tenderfoot, second class, first class, star then life and eagle.
Your leaders and fellow scouts will help you along the way. Patches will be earned upon completion of rank requirements.
Explore some of the 138 possible merit badges. Subjects vary from the required 13 Eagle merit badges to Athletics, Science and Ecology, Handicraft, Scoutcraft, Shooting Sports and the Scholastic variety. You have many subjects to explore.
Leadership is much more than standing in front of the group giving directions. There are four ways every Scout is a leader – First you lead yourself, second you follow cooperatively, third you help your fellow Scouts, and fourth you shape the directions and plans for your patrol and troop.
We volunteer time and talents to help the Virginia Living Museum with their Turtle Census, Virginia Butterfly/Bee Project, Eagle Project participation with brother troop: Troop 200 - Insect shelters, Meals on Wheels, making masks and scrub hats during the COVID closure.
Our own Eagle Projects coming soon!
Summer Camp - a week of fun!
Weekends canoeing, hiking and camping, Highland Games with the Colonial VA Council, Tech Night, Merit Badge weekends. We sure have been busy!
We teach our scouts how to lead by giving them opportunitites to choose, plan and make it happen. Then it is their turn to teach the next scout do do the same.
Each step along the way we celebrate, we have fun together and learn along the way. There have already been lots of laughs, some struggles that made us stronger, some moments to learn and grow,
and many memories made. Join us around the campfire as we tell stories, perform skits and have a great time together.
